Has anyone got a VW T25,and uses a drive away awning? We have got an awning but can't get it to fit (bought second hand), and are considering buying an Easy Camp Venice 200. What are the clamps they say should be used? And how many of them do we need?

Do you have an awning rail, and what sort of connection is there to fix the awning to the van? If you are looking for clamps, I guess you want awning rail clamps, to sandwich the connection "flap" to the rail, using a spare tent pole. You can buy a pack of 3 for about £2 in an accessory shop. Cheaper than buying a new awning if there is nothing wrong with the one you have.

Hope this makes sense. Will have another go if not!!

I don't like to make out that I'm completely thick but being new to campervans and their awnings I don't quite see from the description given by 'minicamper2001' how the Tent Pole and clamp system works. I have also seen the suction clamps and I couldn't work out how you attach the awning to then either.

We have inherited an awning with a figure of eight tube connection but it won't fit on the T25 Gutter Rail. And, if it did fit, how would you dis-engage it for a quick drive away.

As I said I don't like appearing thick but perhaps I should just resign myself to the fact that I am, as far as awning connections go that is

What awning do you have Emeffess?

We have a T25 and our driveaway awning is the Just Kampers Berlin.  It will attach with either the figure of 8, or with gutter clamps.  I prefer the gutter clampsn ad it detaches easily and quickly.

Just Kampers sell the gutter clamps seperately.

The figure of eight clips just clip over the edge of the gutter and tension from the awning holds them on, but as you have found they are not too good on the T25 shape of gutter. With the pole and clamp you thread the pole through the edge of the awning, there should be a sleeve in the canvas for this, yuou then drop the pole into the top of the gutter and fix it using three small clamps that clamp the pole to the gutter. The suction clamps work by being clamped to the pole where you would use the pole clamps and then you suction to the van, to be honest we tried the suction clamps and found them to be useless.

If the van has a high top a small aluminium channel screwed to this works very well with the figure of eight section.
