Hi, me and my partner, are looking for our first motorhome, we want a fixed bed & and a garage, and have max £22,000 to spend, which ones are best to go for , makes etc, what sort cost for insurance etc, any help, first timers so go easy. thanks julie
it all depends on what you plan to use it for and when, also how many berths (any kids?) can you give us a little more info and i will be very happy to help. we have been motorhoming now for a good few years, with kids and have had a few different vans. we go skiing in the winter with it and tour the uk and europe during the summer months....do you have hobbies you want to oursue and use it for i.e skiing, cycling etc
Hi, only 2 of us, no kids, it will be mainly used for long weekends, and a few week long holidays a year, and then onto europe, we prefer one with a garage to house a scooter & pedalbikes. i have used tents for a long time now, rented tourers, rented static caravans, so we feel it it time for a motorhome, cannot wait to get one, looked at some at the weekend , and very impressed at what we saw, cab over the bed would be wasted, 2 of us, so will go for a fixed bed type, how do you compare motorhoming to any other holiday ?
ok i would suggest buying european rather than british such as hymer, knaus, euramobil etc. i am a little biased but we have found they are of a better build quality and they will be winterised so can be used very easily all year round in any temperatures. most of them also have double floors which allow alot more storage space. if you are going for a fixed bed then maybe you can find one with cupboards around the front as opposed to a fixed bed at the front in a c class or a drop down in an a class. some a classes have been modified with the drop down removed and cupboards round. we have an enormous garage in ours which houses the scooter, however once its in, along with the chairs, tables and numerous other things there is not much room for bicycles. we carry these on a bike rack on the back. we love the ease of parking up and relaxing immediately with no setting up to be done bar plugging in the electric and putting the kettle on. if your into cycling what easier way to do it than drive take the bikes off the back and go.....come back and straight to bed....its so easy.....good luck, keep us informed on what van you are thinking of getting and don't hesitate asking for any advice.
