I purchased a Tom Tom 710 in France in May this year and it went faulty in August. I returned to France this september. Unfortunately I have lost the receipt although I had proof of purchase through my Access account. They have promised to get me a duplicate receipt within 7/10 days but after I receive this receipt they will then send it back to Tom Tom for repair which can take 3/4 weeks. By that time I will be back in the UK but they refuse to post it to my home address. I have tried to find an address or telephone number on the tom tom website but it just sends you round in circles. Perhaps someone has a UK address where I can send my tom tom to as it is still under guarantee. In the meantime I had to buy a new Tom Tom.
Have looked through the warranty with mine and it says
"in order to maka a claim of a defect, you must contact tomtom by email during the warrenty period via www.tomtom.com to explain the defect and to obtain a return materials authorization number (RMA) if necessary"
It goes on to say that the tomtom must be returned to the address provided by tomtom before 180 days is up.
when I had a problem with my 910 ( actually it was the screen mount) I just e-mailed them with the problem and proof of purchase and they sent me the new part out FOC
I also know of a friend who had a problem with their tomtom and they e mailed tomtom and was sent instructions on where to take the unit for exchange.
Never had a problem with TT support. My Rider was bought from e-Bay (yes I took a risk) After a while the docking shoe developed a problem. All I sent to TT support was the PayPal receipt for the unit from my PC by e-mail, they then sent me the RMA No. & transport package. I had no idea how old the unit was, as it was used, but TT replaced the docking shoe FOC. But because they had had it longer than the 10 days they say is the average turnround time, they sent me a free camera & mapping download. Because the Rider is for a Motorbike, they also sent me FOC, a security strap for it. All I had to do was ask for one.
