It has been reported widely in several forums. The majority of views is that after a few thousend mikes it gets better then disappears. My van based on the Fiat 250 series does the same and I tend not to worry about it after reading the reports. Mostly its when reversing up a slope or incline, but how ofter do you go very far in reverse?

Thanks Malc for your help. most kind of you for taking the time to tell me. We are a bit worried about it because the clutch was smelling as well. and yes it only happens when we reverse up a hill/slope.
My 97 Ducato would constantly do this when reversing up an incline, i just put it down to the horrendously underpowered 1.9TD engine. Not had a prob with my new Ducato.
