Its only a con if they dont actually do the work(how would you know?)but if they do in 10minutes what you could have done yourself its certainly a ripoff--it sounds as if they dont actually service anything for that price--ie take the fridge out & clean the flue--would they check the heater flue to see if its clear--or just turn on the heater?(yeah, that works)I assume any extra work(which I'm sure they would'advise'needs doing)is chargable extra--the fact they state a price regardless of size & complexty of m/h is questionable--as for a Bedford Rascal-just turn the gas on & put water/fairyliquid soloution on the joints & look for bubbles--if your worried, have the fridge removed & serviced--I doubt thats included in the £99--

I know most companies charges around £130 for habitation check, but usually the damp check is £30-£40 in addition.

We have done most of the check our selves this year, but a little worried about gas checks, the last owner had it done last year.  Where he went wants £99 to check the gas alone.

Sometimes you might be able to find a friendly Corgi person to check it for you.

If theres a gas leak you will smell it--the biggest danger is from the fridge if it aint been serviced for yrs-they can catch fire--if you are going to pay to get it done-ask them what they actually do--I guess they may use something like this

Cheers T4 Bloke!---its just something that could be done by anybody with a reasonable degree of intelligence-you dont even need mechanical knowledge--in fact it would be better to do it yourself-because if you paid to get it done-they might not even do it--& you would never know---
