In my last van I built side facing seats. I made up two sections of 1" ply and used screw in legs and bases from B&Q.
To put the bed up you just pulled the two boards out, screwed the legs into the bases then dropped them down with one side resting on the existing seat, pull the foams across and hey presto. This also left enough space for my daughter to put her foam and sleep under it if we just wanted a quick one-nighter somewhere.
In my present T4 I fitted a Bluebird Rock n roll bed. It really works well with tons of storage underneath. You can also fit a 3/4 width or full width bed.
