Well we have finally bought our first Motor Home and would love to hear from anyone with good space saving tips for managing in one of the smaller Motorhomes on the market
Double skillet will cover most of your cooking requirements.
7" tv.
Think about what you actually need!! and think out of the box, how many uses does this have? if only 1 do you really need it? Use things that have multi uses, be inventive.
I dont carry a bowl as such, but I use the drawer out of those set of drawers that you put together in plastic, 1 fits inside my cupboard when travelling with food and bits, so much easier to pull out for items at the back of the cupboard, it will double up and as bath for a baby, mixing bowl, wash up / clothes washing.
I have a Romahome C15 most definitely a micro van.
Travel games, all compact.
If you have pelments then the overhanging hooks, for carrying cups and gas kettle, and great for drying your towels or undies if on a longer trip ( 6 weeks).
Don't carry chairs etc unless there is a good chance you will use them. Ours only go when a heatwave is a certainty and travel behind the cab seats. We laugh at how much stuff some people seem to carry all year round and don't appear to use it eg chairs when minus 8 outside. We have seen more than 1 person carrying a ladder around.
Don't have tons of pans etc. We have 2 small ones.
Small containers of coffee etc as you can top them up after each trip.
Its a Romahome Outlook with a pullman seat so that we can take the Grandchildren for day trips. Thank you for replying with some tips. We have not bought an awning yet do you think it is a good idea? The movelite ones seem to be a good idea as they appear to be lightweight.
We have a Duetto Margaret (similar size to yours) and we haven't bought an awning yet as we tend to stay only a couple of nights on one site and a lot of our trips are 1 night only. We bought our first van in 2003 so doubt we will ever get round to it unless we change our touring habits.
I do see the sense of them but they do cost quite a bit of money and take up room if they arent used.
A very nice old chap once told me, the bigger the camper the more s.... you will carry along, how right that was, as said above only carry the most essential things, re good food and definetely a good bottle of red for those cold dark nights. Enjoy your camper regardeless of size. Cheers
If you want your grandchildren to camp overnight with you then a Movelite awning with bed pod is ideal. Plus being a cheapskate, awnings are cheaper sometimes than paying for a pup tent on site fees, (not buying)
Plus they are closer to you in the awning, does give more space. If I travel on my own, I dont use it, but for a week or longer than I use an awning. great for dumping shoes and keeping your table and chairs out of the van.
Courses for horses really.
Have you looked at Smallmotorhomes.co.uk site, mainly Romahomers on there, loads of inform for Small Motor homes
We have an Outlook exclusive with the pullman seats and use it regularly to carry passengers (usually my wife's aging parents who love to go picnicing with us). We have a movelite awning and our youngest son has been with us a number of times and slept in the awning. Movelite have redisigned their basic awning but Riversway leisure sell the original design under a different name. it is cheap and cheerful but it works and is certaily much lighter than a traditional awning for a romahome. On the Outlook you have to use any space available. Outr spare wheel is behind the drivers seat but there is a lot of wasted space around it. Our hook up cable lives in the centre of the spare wheel. The awning poles live behind it slid in from the passenger side. there is a fantastic amount of space behond the passenger seat under the floor. We do not carry the fibreglass locker section that is used to make up the passenger side single bed or the bits of wood that allow you to make up the double bed. Instead I have cuta piece of plywood to bridge the gap below the table. (If you want more details I will take a photo. We do not carry the backrest cushions instead we have had a second bed extension made to match the one that forms the backrest on the passenger side. It was made by the eople on Cannock who provide Romahome with all the upholstery. We have a plastic tray that fits under the drivers seat and this takes things like shower shoes although I think that citroen sell a drawer to fit under the seat.
