Well it would most obviously be ie. price, interior, exterior, petrol or diesel, we are after all,  all different and we differ in needs and so on. Ultimately the choice is yours, you got to decide which one would suit your needs best!!!

The same rules apply as buying a caravan of that age-check with a damp meter for water ingress in the bodywork & also for rust in the cab-If low mileage tyres could be well over 5 yrs old so budget for replacing them, they will be date stamped afer '00 but '03 or older or no visible date-replace.

i have seen them in B&Q but can't remember how much, well woth it. Do remember one thing that every dealer will do, as soon you talk of exchanging your van, and they come out to look, first thing that comes out its damp meter, but they won't get it out and go along with you with your purchase, i wonder why, i have made a rule that even if we buy brand new (the last one is) i asked them to go round with the damp meter, you should seen the face on the chap,  ie sort of saying its brand new you don't need a damp test? But nevertheless he did as told by his branch manager.

Build your own: For that sort of money you could have something really good and have the bonus of having things where you want them. Have a look at some of the vans that the Self Build people have done. SBMCC

It is also worth making sure the meter they use to try and reduce the value of your van is the same one they use to justify the price of the one they are trying to sell you.....

Knaus is the better name by far, but that does not mean much. Damp is the major issue. Intererior can be re-furbished, but damp is the main issue

I Have a talbot Merlin petrol i love it as for damp i think most older motorhomes will have some lurking in the odd corner.

As for the damp meter they are good but only as good as the person who uses it , just be sure to go into every nook and cranny look in the backs of cupboards and wardrobes etc.You can buy a damp meter for £10.00 or so so i would buy one before renting one.

Hope this helps and good luck let us all know what you buy.
