I sent this to the Italian Tourist Board
Do I need a Licence to use a CB radio in Italy if I am a varistor?
Here is their reply
Dear Sir, Inf regarding this can be found on www.pianetaradio.it which is equivalent to our Ofcom Agency, known as GTOM.We have spoken to one of their offices who have said that since Italy and Uk are EEC countries the laws are the same.
You have to ctc OFcom - See Link - New Tel Number - 0207 981 3131 http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/archive/ra/publication/ra_info/ra246/ra246.htm#SECD You have to tell them that you are taking the CB out of the Uk within Europe and this should be sufficient to show to the Italian authorities.
Further Inf - www.enit.it - www.discoveritalia.com www.italiantouristboard.co.uk - www.italyheaven.co.uk
Kind Regards, Inf Dept
Now it starts to get involved As you are probably aware from Dec. 2006 it was no longer necessary to have a CB Radio licence CLICKY
It seems that Italy and Poland are amongst the last countries that require a license. The Polish one is because Polish CB is totally different to everyone else (apparently)
