Can anyone advise please the dometic fridge in my van does not seem to work on battery power when the engine is not running the red switch is in the on position but does not light up. When the engine is running the red light comes on and also when mains power is on the green switch lights up OK.
any comments??
You will soon lose all your battery power to the engine if you run the fridge on 12v whilst the engine is off. The 12v is usually connected to the engine battery and not the leisure battery as you're only supposed to use it when you are driving along. I'm assuming the red switch will only light when your engine is running for this reason - it may be an isolation switch.
If you run it on 12v when the engine is off you will need jump leads after about half an hour!
Try looking for a manual on-line, you'll need your fridge model and serial number if you can find it.
Try HERE for a manual. If you can't find the exact one, go for one that is as close to the model/make number as you can.
