I think as it is off the road then yes you can SORN, it is the same as when you put it into storage for few months. It is not on a public highway. But assnowy says, why would you want to do that, the idea of the MH is to use it and go around places!!
Thanks I was thinking it wld b Ok to do - ATM we're not using it at all and its just sitting on our drive. Our young family has increased some since we got the 'van and we haven't got the seatbelts to transport everyone so are having to take 2 vehicles when we go anywhere which is getting ridiculous fuel wise... and also negates the whole idea of the 'van anyway
We've looked into adding seatbelts but its not possible in our 'van, can't really afford to upgrade so are considering siting it for a time to see how we get on being confined to one place cos as u say the whole idea of having the 'van is to tour... and then prob selling and buying a tourer instead which we can site if that makes sense????
I meant from a mechanical point of view too, engines like to run, as do brakes etc, so be very careful having it sat somewhere for long periods of time not moving.
Its more space for the essential carseat than the seatbelts themselves that are an issue... We have a 7yr old.. almost 2yr old and newborn to transport safely.... The van does get an occasional turn over of the engine and a drive round the block which I suppose we cld do onsite too!
I know its not an ideal sccenario at all cos the whole idea of a motorhome is mobility its a short term fix so we can get some use out of the van really!
