Ok - so I've given up on the tent after last "Summer" and have switched to a motorhome.  It's a German import based on a Ford Transit 2.5l diesel chassis.  Coach name is Lyding Floh.  Built in 1996.

I'm pretty much ok but I have two queries so if anyone can help I'll get the beers in....

1.  There is a rocker switch on the passenger side of the dashboard - top position says "In", middle seems to be neutral and the bottom position says "Out".  As the lesiure battery is under the bonnet, my initial thought was that it was something to do with that.  I've asked a few more experienced campervan chaps and they don;t have a clue. Any thoughts?

2. Toilet is the usual Thetford cassette.  However I can't open the door to get at it.  Is the key usually the same as the campervan or is it a different one - if so, does anyone know where I can get a duplicate?

Many many thanks for anyone who bothers to read my desperate ramblings.  Happy New Year to one and all...

Hi

Total guess this but does your vehicle have an electric step at the caravan door? this culd be the in/out switch for it. As for Thetford cassette's I believe the keys to be universal but check out Thetfords web site as it is an excellent reference site

Regards

John

Hi John - thanks for the response.

"No" is the answer to the electric step.  This will make you laugh - I've just been to start it up (with the freezing weather and all) and the engine battery is flat. Dead as the proverbial dodo - so I think the rogue switch definitely has something to do with that.

It's due a gas and electric safety service/test, so I'll get my friendly local service chap to check it out - I'm decidedly reluctant to venture far to test the bed (so to speak) until I resolve this.
