We need to replace ours as it is old and dry and cracked and horrid. We have a 1973 Westfalia with the rack at the rear.

What is the best material to have one made from and where would I go to have it made?

We are not on any VW forums and use a local chap for repairs, we really haven't done the VW thing.

I want to go to some shows but my husband tends to drink too much and wanders off for hours, I usually find him propping up a bar.

If it was me,checking out the many vw camper based forums & clubs would be my first move..there are plenty about online..

As you say,vw shows would be a mine of info'...and fun...
