Hi Harry

Thanks for the additional info. You seem to have had a bit of bad luck with wing mirrors. This is the first time (and hopefully the last) that I've damaged one. I hit a dangling tree branch on a dark country road about a mile from home on our homeward journey after driving 2000+ miles around France without incident!

The larger of the two mirrors in my broken wing mirror was left hanging by the wires which is why I know about the screws that hold the casing. But the info that you have provided will, hopefully, come in useful if/when I can source a manual long-armed mirror. I could have sworn that 'wingmirrorman' had them when I looked on his website yesterday but can only find short arm manual ones now - which as you rightly point out are no good at all. I guess I'll probably end up paying £190 for an electrical one - which is a real pain.

BTW, I totally agree with you about people posting inaccurate information that could prove costly to others.

Thanks again
Ralph

Hi Ralph

If you can't find what you want on the 'wingmirrorman'  web site try phoning.  I have done so with complete success.  Of course FIAT should sell replacement casings or make their mirrors stronger in the first place.  I wonder who could make them do that.  maybe someone should start a campaign

Yes, oodles of bad luck.  I live in the west country where there are lots of narrow lanes and plenty of idiots on them.  I suppose my driving is not perfection either.

Harry
