If its a proper conversion, it will have a proper water pump wich in effect will have  a sort of filter although all it is, is a metal mesh (very fine) wich should stop  minute particles entering the water system. I have never drunk water from the tank/tanks, we use the water purely for cleaning and cooking, ie. the water is boiled therefore you are effectively killing the bacteria if any, when we go out for the weekend, we tend to take water in a container from home and use that for drinking,( not that i would touch it, i much prefer a bottle of red), abroad we ALWAYS buy bottled water, we even use it to wash lettuce or anything that needs washing ie. fruit in general. On the other hand you can buy  one of those filter jugs, loads of people we have met make use of them.

depends where you are going i use a doulton water filter .its a ceramic filter with silver inlay. boiling is not good enough if you venture into the really wild. .having said that 99.9 of the time i just drink the local water n dont seem to be effected with anything. i only use the filter if having to use river water etc. but then i do go into africa .bittled water is available most places if you are fussy. cheers alan.
