I have a 1999 Autotrail motorhome with 2.5TDI and 5th gear will not stay in. It developed the fault on the M5 after 3 hours driving. 1st,2nd,3rd & 4th ok. We are in Devon near Plymouth at the moment.
Does anyone have an idea about this problem and any reccomendations about repairs for motorhomes in this area.
Someone on this site said they had heard it was a common fault on Fiat/Peugot gearboxes but could not give me any other info. Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave
We have recently fixed our gearbox (well OH has!)
Our van is a 2.5T Ducato,97 reg, which jammed in 5th gear - be warned all, our gearlever had been twitching for a while whilst in 5th which we should of done more research on.
There are 2 gearboxes fitted, luckily ours was the one with a seperate 5th gear box added on - can be seen behind front nearside wheel.
If you have a look at this
http://picasaweb.google.com/ggrigg/FiatGearbox#5365800881162097954
it may help or google ducato 5th gear - good luck
