Not been on site for ages!!! Well, thing is, we are thinking about buying a 4 berth motorhome, don`t know much about them. We are going to Stratford on Saturday to a show there to have a look around. if any of you have any advice I would be very grateful.
A lot depends on the van unit its based on....its well worth researching some of them for known problems, cost of parts and service, and someone close to you who will do the work.
The main point is; if you are planning to use the 4 berths, make sure its got 4 seat belts. Plenty havent - mine included.
Look at the rear 'U' shaped lounge options, i think they work really well, personaly.
If the vehicle has a 'smell' when you enter - walk away, it will be damp or not looked after. If its a tow bar, find out what its been towing - especially if its less than about 2.5 power unit. Idealy youd get one close or above this size, otherwise itll have no guts once its loaded.
Went to Stratford yesterday to the motorhome show, OMG there were some beauties there for sale.
OH decided, HE!! wants one with a fixed bed at the back. I`ve been looking at small m/h`s and he`s on about having a bigger one. This is gonna be fun when we do finally go to get one!!
Just seen my son and family on Burnham-on-sea webcam, they went yesterday with their tent and the kitchen sink lol
My Husband decided before we got ours that he too wanted a fixed bed, we have had no regrets with our choice & don't regret that one little bit, but I know others prefer to make up beds every night to have the extra day room.
We have a Swift Bolero 690FB and whilst it is only about 23ft long for two of us we have plenty of room in the living area with the front seats spun round, and the bed is really comfy to be honest I can't wait to go away again as we sleep better in it than at home.
Good luck in your search for your ideal motorhome.

I found that you need to think on what you want it for. I found the smaller m/homes just too small after the bed was put up, all you could do was sleep, unless you have an awning. Then you need to put the bed away before you could eat. The smaller m/homes i had were great for day trips, as you had your own cafe, changing room and loo, cabin in the hills. Its ok if you both go to bed at the same time and get up, but my wife is an early bird and i like to party until the early hours, so until i got up she used to bounce on the bed so she could have breakfast. If you have any kids they will want to get up early as well. Go sit in a few and work out what you will be doing most times you go away and see if its close to what you think you will need. We are on our 3rd now and its nearly all we need for short trips. Dont forget you will need to pack everything away before you go off for the day or go to the shops.
Get a fixed bed: There is nothing worse than having driven 3 or 400 miles to know that you have got to move everything to make a bed up. Some one else mentioned the seatbelts; if it is for 4 people make sure that there is fixed seating c/w seatbelts.
consider a self build! (build yourself) this way you get base vehicle you want and exactly what you need not what you have to accomadate!
mine has a fixed double bed, so i can get a kip anytime, it has a large garage area underneath for stowage,wc,2 burner cooker with grill, loads of cupboards etc but it weren't built overnight! we have been using for 2yrs now and still find new ideas lol,but you could spend 20k upwards and have to do the same! also look at a engine that can be converted to waste veg oil! i run mine on my own self-built system and get my oil for nowt;) free fuel ,free camping(wilding) makes for cheap holidays;)
