We recently bought a second-hand free-standing awning for our second-hand Sprinter conversion.
The Sprinter has an awning rail which we have been using with a small porch awning. The van has an awning channel which takes a round-section glass fibre rod on the awning, which has to be fed through the end of rail (hence any pegs etc. have to be removed first to allow the tent edge to be passed along the rail).
I believe that you can get a fitting which allows you to connect and disconnect a drive-away awning from the van without having to slide it on and off the rail.
Can anyone point me to a website or describe the part we would need to buy?
It's called a driveaway connection kit , simply type in camper shop (it's for vw's but it seems they are very widely used) then click on driveaway awning accessories . Good Luck
