We have always had a caravan and I have just talked my OH into buying a motorhome.Just sold the caravan and now looking for a second hand motorhome.. We have app. £20000 -£22000 to spend .Would obviously like one as young as possible for the money. We want one app 23ft long as that is all we have space for. There are so many motorhomes out there that we are finding it so difficult. Please could anybody give us any idea as to what kind of motorhome would fit our requirements. Thank you.

PS We may have to forego the extra seats with seatbelts.

Do the rounds of the dealerships/shows and yes e-bay sellers if you wish, but this should be to give you some idea of the type of motorhome that suits you. There are so many variations in layout, number of berths, and so on. Do you want to make up  bed/s every night for example?

With that budget you can find exactly what you want. When we were looking it was some time before finding what suited us. I suppose it can be compared to buying a house, don't jump at the first or cheapest, your efforts will be well rewarded over time.

Good luck.

I have noticed that some adverts for motorhomes said onboard water tanks.I thought they all had them.

Hi

Usually the reference to onboard water tanks refers to the tank being located inside the motorhome (under a seat of in a false floor) rather than externally under the vehicle. Some older van conversions may not have water tanks at all but these are comparitively rare.

Get one with a decent volume water tank, otherwise youll be filling it up every half an hour. Also make sure it has a decent payload, for your 'extras and essentials'. And make sure the engine has a bit of pull. When you test drive one, chances are it will be stripped of a lot of its 'daily' weight, so needs to pull like a train at that point.
If theres any kind of 'smell' when you enter it, its likely damp, uncared for, or both - walk away!
