Hi Phyzzio,
You have probably heard of the use of bakers bread crate bases, which I'm told make very good mud mats.
I have a set of large rubber mats (from B&Q) the type with a holy honeycomb finish.
They served me well when I had the Fiat based M/H. I haven't needed them yet (touch wood) with my rear wheel drive Tranny .
