I am thinking about getting myself a bongo, but I've been told that they need to me serviced every six thousand miles. Is this correct?

Check outwww.bongofury.co.uk for all your bongo needs

Had ours since July. We don't plan on doing more than 5K a year in it anyway, so thats servicing once a year which is what we do on our other cars anyway. Obviously if you were using it more or as a more day to day vehicle then it could be an issue.

I had heard that the oil needs changing regularly but there seems to be differences in opinion on that.

most campers need servicing at 6,000ml . whats the problem.most only need oilsn filter change . quick nose at brakes . regular servicing should reduce the faults on the road.common sense really.

Any Bongo you get will be 11-15yrs old. Any vehicle of this age you want to keep running should have an oil & filter change at least every 6k miles, I would have thought.

For any bongo related queries go to the link on earlier post for bongo fury.  We've had our for 2 years and have done 2x 3300+ mile trips and various others of long distances.   Bongo has never faltered.  But it has been serviced each year and flew through the MOT's

servicing the bongo is the same as any other vehicle...most of the older diesel engines require oil changes at 5/6000 mls ...the only complicated part is  bleeding the cooling system and all the info required for this can be got off bongo fury....

My bongo is a 2004 2ltr petrol that needs a service and filter/ oil change after 15,000 kilometres or every 12 months whichever comes first. I was told this by Ian the Bongomaster  at bongo fury

its the diesels that have the short service intervals....I'd imagine the v6 2.5 petrols servicing will be similiar to your 2ltr petrol but these models are are much fewer in number though I believe  that  the last production run of bongos came in v6 petrol only so I'd imagine numbers will increase in this country as time goes on..

My mechanic friend reckons that the service interval can safely be extended to 10,000 miles, unless you are doing lots of short trips. Lots of cars used to have the shorter service intervals, but modern oils are so much better than those available 15 years ago.
