I purchased my 18 year old Mitsubishi L300, International Motorhomes conversion earlier this summer and have had tremendous fun covering 2000 miles on various trips.  Only problem is I still haven't got the fridge, interior lights, radio or heating working and if I am to make any use of it in the colder, darker months really need to find out whether they do work or can be made to work!

It was purchsed from a car salesman who had taken it as a part exchange and as the price was rather attractive i was only really concerned about whether it went or not.

As a complete novice I really need to find someone who is knowledgable about campers who can tell me what's what.  I rang a local motorhome retailer to ask if they could assist me but they weren't too happy about the age of the vehicle and i felt they weren't really interested.

It has a Zig C.F.8 caravan and boat battery charging and distribution system which when plugged in to the mains lights up and gets warm but haven't been able to operate anything from it.

When plugged to the mains the two sockets work but am unsure what appliances it would be safe to run off them - a plug in heater for example??

The van has at some point had a Hot Box LPG Fan Assisted Independent Heater but I don't even know if it is still fitted or operational!!

The fridge is an Electrolux RM122,B,  which should work off the gas or the electric but have been unable to get it to work off either!

I could be overlooking something very simple but have no idea where to start!!  If anyone knows of someone in my area who would be able to help me I would be really grateful.  I live in East Sussex, Eastbourne/Hastings area.

I would also be interested to know how easy it is to have the sides of the pop top replaced??

Happy Camping

Hi

I presume that you actually have a leisure battery fitted to supply the 12v, otherwise you will be trying to run everything from your main battery. Also check that the leisure battery is in good condition and able to hold a charge, and that the fuses work!

The amount that you can run off your two mains sockets will depend on the amperage of the supply coming into the van from the hook-up.

I suggest that you find a local qualified van electrician to check out your mains and 12v supply. I found one by looking up "Electrolux" on the web!!!!

on the zig board there should be a switch for turning on the 12v system, look out for a 12v battery under seats etc. check that fuses havn't blown does the fridge have a switch that lights up if so then you have power then turn on gas supply and hold in the gas switch for 20 secs to let the gas bleed through then press the light {ie turn on till lit up} and gas should ignight. if in doubt go and buy a copy of motorcaravanners manual, as this will point you in the right direction you can get it from halfords etc.for heater follow gas pipes from gas bottles and find out where they go. you could run a plug in heater of your mains supply no probs hope this helps.
