Hi.....has anyone tried to stop overnight in one of the big supermarket car parks....obviously after spending some money in-store AND asking permission?   Asda, Tesco, Morrrisons all spring to mind, or even an out-of town mall?

It seems a pity to lay up the van just because most official sites are reaching the end of the season.

Other than that, where would you suggest for a pull-in?

You are allowed to stop at Tesco stores overnight.

It is best to ask the managers permission before doing so.

One of the Tesco board members/directors is a motorhome owner.

A bit of research will throw up plenty of year-round sites. No need to 'lay up' for lack of 'winter' sites.

Pubs have to be the easiest/cheapest solution. In our experience most are happy to let you stay if you patronise their bar - just ask.

if there is no gate on the car park its usually. ok .i use lots of them when abroad. some even let you get water or empty your toilets . you just have to try it .but always have another place in mind if asked to move. cheers alan.

Remember also that if on a pub car park the driver must be under the drink drive limit as you can be done for drunk in charge.

Generally you are ok with supermkt carparks but look for parking restriction signs, as some supermkts are putting on 2hr restrictions presumably enforced by wheelclamping thugs.

You cant get clamped anymore even on private land the law changed outlawing private firms las month.
