I would've thought so yes..that's if all is well..

But I suppose it depends on what vehicle you have...?

On our previous Compass there was an additional switch low down just inside the habitation door,which switched off all 12v stuff(..I've never actually had a switch which selected between 230v-12v).

Is this something that's just occurred?(..or are you new to the vehicle and are just a little unsure as to how stuff works?

(Just to add that when on mains,apart from possibly feeding a fridge and any 230v sockets,is usually just charging the battery...so your lights would still be running off that anyway..)

I'm sure someone far more clued up than me will be along soon...

I pretty much agree with previous post from Chris. I have no 12v/240v switch on mine. Are you sure this is what the switch does ? When plugged into 240v my charger/control unit automatically charges the batteries, runs the fridge (if the fridge is switched to 240v) and makes live any 240v sockets without my having to put on any switches. Remember the light bulbs are all 12v so are always running off the battery whether you are plugged into 240v or not.

What make make and model of van do you have ? Someone with the same may be able to give you a more definate answer.

Of the few vans we've had the only "selector" switch we've ever come across has been to switch between the vehicle and and leisure batteries(.either .for charging or for drawing from).

Perhaps you edit/rename the thread title to include the model of your van..?

..that way,you may get the attention of an owner of a similar van...
