My wife and I have got the camping bug.  We have had holidays in the tent but want to move up to a caravan.  we have spent hours looking on the internet for deals on used caravan but don't know were to start. We are looking for advice on which deals to look out for and what to avoid when looking at used models. We have a budget of £5000 and want to ask if anyone has tips on models and equipment to look for in the ads.

thank you,

Craig & Dani

Judging by numerous threads on here, it might be advisable to make your first caravanning investment a Damp Meter, if you don't already have one!

(BTW you've posted under Motorhomes and Campervans, but don't worry - Admin will sort it out)

Does it matter, one has two wheels the other four or sometimes even six, the fittings are very similar if not the same

we brought a 2004 abbey which we did love, it looked in great condition and we did buy from a dealer,   BUT make sure you make them do a damp reading (not one of the damp readers you see advertised for 6.99) as although we thought we had a sound van it had 21% damp which is expensive to put right and when you want to sell the dealer will be checking this and giving you a very low price.  Just get the van checked out before commiting yourself because im sure they knew about the damp in the van we brought but we were very green so got caught out.
