I was sorely tempted to buy some new 15" wheel trims suitable for our motorhome which were advertised on E-bay. I watched the items from start to finish and thought I could have bid for them. I was so glad I didn't. We went shopping today at Tesco and as usual went browsing around the store. I found an identical set of wheel trims priced £9.97 and couldn't believe my luck when I compared that price to the £25+ postage the 'winner' of the E-bay auction paid.

For some unknown reason some people think that every item on ebay is a bargain.  I know from visiting markets and warehouses that many of the items offered for sale o ebay are, as you have found out, certainly not a bargain!!!

Before anyone makes a bid they should do a little bit of homework first and check local prices and online sites for average prices.

Sad I know ... but I collect Tupperware fridge magnets and keychains .... and was after this rare ish item  ........  well bidding went to £36.91 ....... a bit out of my price range lol ..... a couple of month later someone in Belgium had one on buy now button for 2.99 euros + 1 euro p&p and now it's mine ....... for less than £3 in real money   17

I bought a couple of chairs on e-bay at twice the price that Lidl sold them at.  They weren't even as good as the Lidl chairs.

I look around very carefully now before e-baying.

I still use the salt & pepper pots I won at a Tupperware party just after we got our first caravan, 12 years ago. They were just what I needed!

Talk about overpriced, in this months Practical Motorhome the advert for Lazy Days has my old Frisky in - priced at over £10K - must be appreciating as that's more than twice what I paid for it. & a good deal more than the trade in. Must be a misprint I think.

And they were FREE !!!!!!!!!!

I used to be a Tupperware dealer in the 70's/80's and those gifts cost less than a £1 for 10

When we first got the caravan I kitted it out with all brand new Tupperware, from my old kit and special colour items I had won

And now I buy it from all over the world lol

Hi All,

You really should listen to this song dedicated to over enthusiastic Ebayers.

Made my day (but rings a little too true)

The thing about EBay is that you have to know what you are buying, do your research. Set yourself a maximum amount you are willing to pay and go no further.   I have just bought a brand new pair of Jazz shoes (top of the range) for my daughter they would normally be about £30.00 and I got them for under £10 and that includes the P & P. Also purchased quite recently some software that retails at about £70 for £20. So I am quite pleased. But I did my homework first.

There are bargains to be had, but be careful with software that is much cheaper than the normal retial price, it might not be legit.
