We have an early morning slot (usually we travel over on an evening) booked on the tunnel in a couple of weeks & because we have to travel down from York would rather do as much as we can the night before so need somewhere close by to pull up & sleep over. On the continent we just do this at a service station but in rip off britain it's not that easy!! Any suggestions? At the end of the day if we have to pay to stay on the motorway because it's not off the beaten track then we will but would welcome ant comments. Thanks
If you exit the M20 at the junction immediately after the tunnel (I think it is junction 12) there is a large Tesco store (with a large car park) where you can get your head down for at least two maybe three hours, FREE, I am not exactly sure of the parking restriction time.
You may have more replys, if you post this question on the Camping and Caravaning Abroad section
There is a Tesco at J10 Ashford exit. Check to see there are no 2hr limit parking signs up & you will be ok there. No signs last time I looked, last yr.
We have used the Tesco car park with no problem. I think as long as you park near the perimeter they wont bother too much. What we normally do now though is get the very latest chunnel train then park up in the dedicated motorhome carpark at the eurocity shopping centre just outside the terminal on the french side. You can grab breakfast when you have had your kip and get on your way.
Follow the signs to Cite Europe along the autoroute towards Boulogne, then off the autoroute after about 5km; when you reach the roundabout with the cheap hotels on the right, take the last exit and the Cinema should be on your right; follow the road up and after the multi storey car parking on your right, turn sharp left - that's it.
The top end of Cite Europe should be on your right with the entrance to the Supermarket.
But if in doubt basically follow the signs to Cite Europe and then follow the "camping car" signs which will get you there. It is an outer carpark not far from the entrance to the supermarket.
