I know there are regular posters on the Caravanning and Camping Abroad section who will be able to answer your question (but who might not read this section)!
this guys not far from you , and he has a regulator by the look of his ad , send him a message through the ad asking if he'l sell them both together as a buy it now , at least you'd have a bottle to swap when in france ,,
i think i'd be inclined to get a bottle from a popular supplier when i get there , you will , at some time be shopping in a major supermarket or such ,and buy a new regulator if needed , at the same time ,,
If you buy a new bottle in France, butane or propane the regulator is part of the initial cost. Its around 15€ for a 5 kg bottle with 20€ as an initial cost. Normally the local hypermarket will sell a selection.
French gas bottles are available at supermkt fuel pumps anywhere you like. The 'consignee' charge, ie bottle cost is between 9 & 19€ depending on special offers. The regulators for the smaller bottles are 20 or 27mm clip. either butane or propane.
French gas suppliers are Antargaz, Butagaz & Primagaz. Google for their websites.
I have a GasLow system I fitted to my van, just fill up with Autogas in the UK & abroad just have the 2 different types of adapter & fill up at fuel stations. There are plenty on Autogas. It also works out nearly half price refilling. I had no problems in France & Switzerland with this.
