Has anyone had any experiance with Selca alarm systems, i had one fitted to my works van last year.....It has just been one big pain in the axx. The key fobs are so unreliable, which can be a nightmare on an immobiliser and now the internal relay holds the left indicator on unless reset with a short, sharp wack with a heavy object on the left wing.
Anyway last year I bought an 18 month old Swift Kontiki L and the dealer agreed to fit an alarm/immobiliser in the price among other things.  When i picked the van up and was handed the keys i recognised the dreaded key fob. Another Selca......
We took the van to Spain for 3 weeks, by the third day i was using the spare key fob as the first packed up, and spent the next 2 weeks wondering if the second was going to fail also.
I have now decided for peace of mind to have it removed and a quality system fitted.
Can anyone recommend such a system that they have tried and tested and has proven reliable.
One thing i would say to anyone considering an alarm system is steer well clear of this one.

Hiya Jmech,

I had a Spyball alarm / immobiliser installed on my Harley and later had the same installed on my motorhome. My insurancecompany was glad an gave me a discount. I just had to have the system checked up every year to extent the warrantie.

The dealer said the batteries in the keyfobs should last for at least a year...

Both systems worked fine for both vehicles and the batteries lasted for more than 2 years. Mind, it does put a bit of a strain on your car batterie so it will be empty within a month or so if the vehicle is not used. A batterie maintanance system could do the trick there, though.

Hope this'll help a bit.

Good luck and cheers!

John .
