Hi

Hope someone out there can help with this

We have a VW T5 and a drive away awning - some sites say they don't accept tents but do accept awnings.

So does a drive away awning become a tent if you drive away from it????

Do I need to phone individual campsites and check what their policy is?

Anyone else had a similar dilemma?

Thanks

Bee

If it's a "proper" driveaway awning,I would think you'd be find...

(..but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to ask 'em though...)

I have a proper drive away awning, I just book as a campervan with awning and never had any problems yet. I've often wondered about some stuctures classed as 'awnings' though as many of them are obviously just tents with a couple of windows and an extra bit at the back, but a proper drive away awning is obviously an awning.

We had one of them  (..but never used it in anger though)..

Yeah,I think you'll be fine..(..I think sites have a problem when folk just use the likes of gazebos and day/utlity tents,as "awnings" ).

We have a small dome tent which we put up at the side of our motorhome. We have never had any problem on 'no tents' sites.

^ This. I've just bought a Quechua Base Seconds XL to use with my VW, but I'm having it altered so that it can be attached to the van & become a driveaway awning. If it was freestanding it'd be a tent & that would almost certainly mean a higher pitch fee.
