My brother in law is over from Australia and wants to buy a motorhome to join us in the meandering through France.

The Caravan Company at Finedon, on the A6 near Wellingborough; we bought our caravan there and they have bought up a lot of ex-Discover stock, or White Arches at Rushden. Not sure how many motor caravans as opposed to towing they have though.

White Arches at Rushden have their own premisies separate from the caravans.Its on the A45 and can only be accessed from the Northampton bound carriageway although there is not a massive distance between junctions. There may also be a Marquis somewhere nearby.

Heart of England are at Weedon. Not too far off the motorway either.
I think there is a Marquis at Northampton too.

Don't bother with Milton Keynes Caravans (or whatever it's called), hardly any vans there. Forgot about the dealer at Biggleswade who are helpful but again don't know about motor caravans there.

As suggested above, HEART OF ENGLAND MOTORHOMES AT WEEDON, on A5 ( as name suggests in the Heart o fthe Country) This is a family owned dealer, and they offer the best of service. We bought a new 'van in September 2008, went in at entry level, and after using 3 years decided we loved the life, and would change it for a (New again) model with all the bells and whistles. A, They serviced the van in the time we had the first one, B, they knew the van from new, and the price we paid. C, They gave us a very good price for it against our selected model( which was not in stock) and a good deal on the price of the new one , for which we waited just a week. We would recomend them to anybody. Nothing is too much trouble, and any request you make will be sorted.They have a seperate service dept. Any extras we asked for were fitted quickly, but more importlantly safely and with professional finish.Give them a call ask for Karl Benz.....the owners son in law....very helpfull guy. Cant fault them at all. When passing we call in for a coffee!

Update:

They have put a deposit on a 2003 Bessacar (?). Is there anything they should particularly be aware of? I gather it has done about 23k miles.

Any tips would be appreciated

I am sorry I cant help you with a Bessy...my niece has one...will have a word with her.Probs a 2 day wait for you/them. They have had it for just 2 years bought 2nd hand, and its used 9 months a year so gets some use. If anything needs adding for you that we think you should know...we will be back on here. Hope they did use H OF E...great people.
