quoted from `few cloudy' on previous page .....

"Not many campervans retired due to mileage so I'd take that out of the equation. Age maybe but not mileage. I guess some might think Vdubs are cool, but they're actually just better. I've seen a few very good Transit conversions, but the majority look like they've arrived to pave the drive... there's a reason why they are 'less expensive' (cheap)."

17 I know what you mean `arrived to pave the drive' 17

All the same though,  the Ford Transit engine if maintained preperly goes on & on,  & has been voted `best van' on the road & I think more than once,  & they are a lot less expensive.

We certainly had no complaints about the old one (just a van not a camper) we used to have.

Just realised the T4 is actually too short for us anyway.   I had thought they  were around the same size as a lwb transit van but it seems they're just about 15 ft long. Must be mixing it up with another VW van 17 !

We're after something we can both stand up straight in that's at least 17ft long really - & with good mpg return.   Don't want much do we 17

An Iveco Daily LWB conversion, or Mercedes Sprinter has those sort of dimensions.

Loads on ebay...

Yes,  ideally I think an Iveco Daily or a Jumbo Transit will be the thing (hubby not so keen on Mercs).  Also we were wondering about the VW Krafters -  they look to be around 22 ft long & pretty reliable things ?  not sure what sort of mpg they return though.

We run a high roof 2004 Movano at work and it returns around 30mpg loaded.
They have a bad reputation but this one has done 140000 miles.
We also have a Citroen Relay 2006 that returns 30+ and that has done 240000,

These vans are squarer than the transit. I had transits for years until I bought these Euro vans.

They are cheaper to buy and seem to last longer.

Just my opinion.

Cheers
Darren

Philip,  unfortunately just about everything in Preloved seems to be at the other end of Britain.  It's a good few hours drive - & a small fortune in diesel - just to get to the border from here.

I must look again though as there may be something nearer come in,  I did sort of give up on Preloved due to this,  so thanks for reminding me ! 17
