I suppose how "doable" it is depends on which ' Wentworth it is and what it's plated at "as standard"?
If it's a 4000kg model and you were looking to reduce it down to 3500kg(due to age or health restrictions etc),I would've thought that taking 500kg(ish) off a payload would make it pretty much unusable..?
(..a passenger,a gas bottle etc and a small amount of clobber, would probably put you over weight).
I'd recommend checking your figures thoroughly first.

Or get a licence, if that's the problem, probably cheaper too.
If it's a licence restriction then I doubt that's an option.
Some of the Wentworths were 3700kg GVW, so losing 200kg payload may be acceptable as long as you load carefully. As above, Svtech seem to know their stuff.
As the OP's profile shows they have a 'Stargazer,I assume that this 'Wentworth may be a van they are looking at?(..that's if it is for them?)
...what ever weight it is at present,as manufactures don't tend to "over endow" there MHs with payload to start with,if this is with a purchase in mind, then I'd look into this very carefully.
If it's an existing vehicle, then I'd be doing some sorting through what can be "off-loaded"..
Thanks everyone. I am thinking of buying the wentwoth. It is plated at 400kg. I had it weighed and came out at 3080. I spoke with SVTECH and they reckon they could re plate it at 3500 giving me 420 to laod with clothes food etc. They say it will be legal and it only costs £100 plus vat. I am told if I change my License( as I am a fit 72year old) it could cost me £100 per year.
Just curious but who weighed it(you or seller)? and how "loaded" was it when it was weighed...? (Fuel, water, gas bottles..passenger..spare wheel..etc?).
I must say 3080kg does sound very "light" for a 4000kg MH...
Our's is 3100kg+ "unladen" and it's only *3500kg..and that's not counting things like windout awning, rearbumper, towbar, cycle racks etc
(*or it was, before the previous owner had it replated to 3850kg).
If you are sure all of figures add up and that you'll have enough payload for you, then the 100 odd quid for Svtech seems pretty good...even better if the seller will pay for it!
The figures don't seem to make sense. You seem to be concluding that the Wentworth would have a user payload of 920kg as originally plated, but I don't recall ever seeing a payload that high on that type of vehicle.
What do Autocruise state as the Wentworth's original User Payload?

(Sorry..I meant to add this to previous post but missed the "deadline"...)
Don't forget to check the individual axle weights!...
It's not uncommon for coachbuilts to be fairly "heavy" on rear axle, whilst still having plenty of payload left on the front(..obviously that'll depend on the chassis, tail overhangs, layout etc)...and as it's the rear that gets the cycle racks, towbars, storage boxes etc..it's something that needs keeping an eye on.
just to clear things up, the original plate on the wentworth is 4000kg. I took it to the weighbridge with the seller and it weigh in at 3080kg that was with 1 gas bottle and the bike rack plus a large solar panel and a nudge bar which I will be removing. I also have the gaslow light weight bottles which will help with the payload. I have spoken with SVTECH and they are quite happy to re plate it at 3500kg and do not think I will have a problem as I should be able to put about 300kg in. I think it will be worth the £120.00 to have it re plated.SVTECH suggested I leave the old plate on. Thanks everyone for your help.
Sounds a good solution if you can manage with a 300kilo user payload.
BTW, if you leave the old plate on, make sure you carry a copy of SVTECH's correspondence with you in the van when traveling. If VOSA do a random stop on you (as they seem fond of doing on bigger vans) then they will tend to believe what's on the plate, and that could mean a very tedious delay before they uncover the actual facts and eventually believe you!

That's a good point mojo..and I'd also carry a photocopy of the amended V5 as well..
(...although I assume that SVTech do supply a "plate" showing the new weights..?)
..and again,I'd still be checking the individual axle weights, once it's loaded..as with only 300kg to play with,on a 7mtr+ van,it'd be easy to overload an axle...
