For goodness sake take the saddles/seat posts off - easy peasy to do and it's surprising how much weight you will 'remove' by doing so ... simples!

I would like to assume that anyone strapping a bike onto a rear rack,would already be removing something as "nickable" as a saddle & post anyway...
("..for goodness sake..."    )
