Being new to this van lark I wondered what other people did when they ran out of water on site when you have an onboard water tank - do you unhook and drive to the hose or transfer water some other way?
Also i am taking the van to a couple of festivals - any suggestions on where to fill up with water rather than driving all the way with a full water tank?

We use a plastic container to top up the on-board tank. Our Bailey has an Aqausource filling system which is very slow and its easier and quicker to add water directly to the tank.

If we only want a small amount we use a watering can that we keep especially for the job, otherwise I drive to the tap and fill the tank

We fill up on site when we get there and that usually lasts uuf 3 or 4 days depending on how extravagant we are.

When staying for longer we top up with a watering can kept just for that purpose.

Fill up from the water source as this motorhome we have we cannot fill it any other way, we usually fill up when we return from our day out.

I made a transfer system, cheap £8 pump then connected short length of tube with a hose lock connector. This connects to me Helios cap that fits into the filling point and provides a male connector for my hose lock fittings. A cigar plug fitted to the cable that I can then plug into either a convenient plug or as in my case an extension cable and it worked a Treat with a cheap plastic water carrier this weekend.
