do French sites insist on which way you face when parking up a motorhome? We always like to face the direction that means our side entrance door doesn't open onto the neighbours
All the campsites I've been on in France just let you set up however you want. Just like you we prefer not to 'open up' towards any neighbours ... though until this year we've used a tent or a CombiCamp trailer. There are a few sites with a hardstanding area for motorhomes to one side of a grassy area which would limit how you set up ... but these aren't common.
The majority of sites I have been on in France never ever mention which way to pitch. The only one that did was a site we left after 15 minutes! Mind you it might suit you as the boss insisted that Continental and UK vans pitched the opposite way.
In over 13 years of going to France with a motorhome, and before that with a caravan for 14 years, we have never been told which way to pitch! They are more laid back than the 2 clubs in the UK about pitching.
Pitches on most French sites are quite big, and a lot of people put their unit sideways on the pitch.
