I have just bought an old conversion camper van and I am trying to get my head around the electrics. The battery in it is charged from the alternator of the engine but from what I have read online I need to have a relay on the circuit so the starter battery doesnt go flat...

I can only find what looks like a splitter, i have the image below. Is that what this is and if so will it be ok to leave it alone, will it charge my leisure battery and also prevent my starter battery going flat when camping!! Thanks for any help....

in the image the 3 wires are from top - to leisure battery - to alternator - to starter battery....

Thanks

Electric in motor vans are complicated to say the least, get it wrong and it will cost dearly. You need a auto electrician, although the MMM,has a genius on electrical equipment and wiring. If i were you i would buy a copy of this magazine or even subscribe,Good luck.
