Ok, there are 2 wires going to pos terminal, traced one to the alternator spliter and assumer the other goes to control panel, on the negative there are 3 wires, one to splitter for alternator and one to control panel and cant find where 3rd is going!! wiring seems a mess!!

Dont think there is a switch on the control to do with posible charger as I have 4 switches and have traced all four to something, lights/water pump etc...

To answer a question the van was a transit chasis then a factory built camper body was put on top so it kinda resembles a factory built but it isnt!!!

Would it be possible that a charger was bolted on outside, under the camper? It's the only place it could be I think! If its there at all!!

Oh?..So it hasn't got a  Make/Model as such then?..

(..is it a self-built/self-adapted  "one-off"?)

So, what does the incoming "mains" lead do?..does it just feed to "household" sockets?...and does it "go" anywhere else?.. (..charger?....)

As for where the charger would be...well,I doubt anyone would put it outside...not when it could go under cab seats/in cupboards/close to the leisure battery.. or even under the bonnet..But who knows....

We're second guessing somewhat ......

Photos?.....

I haven't actually traced all the mains wires passed the circuit breakers. I know there is 3 sockets which is normal enough but there's also 3 230v lights, haven't seen that before!! They only come on when 230v is pluged in. I guess following the 230v cables to see if any lead to a charger would be best thing to do!!

And finally (!)- Disconnect both red wires from battery terminal and check voltage w.r.t. the -ve terminal with multimeter. The one from the splitter relay should read approx 13.4 volts when engine is running. Other one should read zero volts if it is indeed the feed wire to the 12v control panel.(check same wire with van mains supply on - there is a slim chance that same wire is also battery input from charger!)

But only 2 red wires to Leisure battery +ve would normally mean:

1. There is no mains powered charger! .... or
2. Invisible mains power charger output not getting to battery +ve wire; there is still a slim chance that there is a mains powered charger but as Tarby said earlier there could be a faulty relay connection in the control panel itself.

Last thought. What make is the control panel? (Google make and part number.) Any sign of a mains cable going into same panel?

So it's good-night from me - you certainly have an unusual motorhome eoin95 (Especially with mains powered lights!) perhaps look again at the Roadpro catalogue! Sorry - but a good topic - has had a lot of peeps thinking!

Also it dose not necessarily have to be a relay it could be a 3 way rocker switch(off, charger, car). Swift caravans had this a few years ago if left on car all the power was drawn from the battery. If this is the case you would have to check which position you get 13.6 volts on the battery, good luck.

We have a 58 reg Autocruise Startrail motorhome and we have 2 mains 230v lights.   Our previous Swift caravan had them too, so they're not that unusual. Very useful to check if mains hook up is working OK
