Brno is a university town, but as noted above, it helps to be able to speak - or at least be able to pronounce - Czech, as we found that few people spoke English, mostly the well-educated youngsters. Czech has letters that we don't have in our alphabet (look at the "hat" on the S of Skoda cars [which I can't put on here], so it's pronounced Shkoda). We didn't camp there, but were visiting Czech friends, travelling by train and bus.
