Hi going to germany end of month just wondered what the latest news was on sat/tv.been on other forums but its all about television in spain/southern france i have a portable set up only use it when over the water.Would like to watch the world cup will be in the rhine/mosel region.Any help would be helpful.
hi mate, I watched tv in Dusseldorf last year, no probs, but I do know that the satellite/s have been moved or changed so I can't really help you there, but if you carry a laptop, down load a program called FILMON, and if you can get internet you can watch anything you want on it, I'm writing this from Spain and my wife is over the moon ie the soaps she can watch, I do have a satellite system, but I'm afraid its useless here, hope this helps,
Thanks to you all for the information will try the filmon download managed to find the new satellite footprint and it looks like we might be able to pick up a picture,The england v italy game does not kick off until mid-night a bit late to be watching in a german bar.Once again thanks for the input.
Cheers Keith.
On the a point about non satellite TV in Germany I have always found if fairly limited, usually local programmes where as on satellite there are lots of channels. Has anyone else found this? Perhaps we were in a poor signal area.
Astra2 SpotBeam from 28.2 East carries the BBC/iTV Ch5 and all the other Freesat satellite channels.
Looking at the FootPrint does not present a good signal for the area you mention, in fact you will be just outside the edge of the FootPrint for use with a 60cm Dish.
Having said that you may get away with a 80cm Dish, and from what I can tell a 1m Dish will guarantee a signal in that region.
Like the old saying, "What Will Do More, Will Do Less".
Ideally if you can find out what size Dish folk are using at your intended campsite, then you will have your answer for Dish size, but any such reception reports would have to be based on information from folk who been on the campsite from March 2014 onwards as there have been no changes since that time to the satellite line up, and no further changes are anticipated for Freesat reception until 2029 which is when the current satellite being used for Freesat is due to be replaced.
