Hi we are the proud new owners of a Toyota Hiace import 1995. Yes we have the manual, but it's in Japanese! A simple question...... if you are plugged into a hook up how do you know if you are successfully charging the leisure battery. There is a switch at the side door on - off and a little green light which remains on all the time? Is that of significance?

If there is anyone out there can help we'd be grateful!! We are campervan virgins!!

hard to tell what the little green light is as there are quite a few different Japanese companies converting hiaces and they are all different....easiest way to check the battery is being charged is to connect a multi meter across the terminals ... from memory you should get around 12.7 when not connected to hookup and from a fully charged battery which should rise to around 13.5-14v when being charged from hookup..

Thank you so much, that's a great help. I'll go and have a look at it all again.

that little green light has no effect on charging the leisure batteries its just a switch to switch the electrics off at the back. for example youve left something on in the back ,you can switch it off from the cab if driving. thats what mine does anyhow. for ages i thought it had to be on or the batteries would,nt charge. the electrican who did a wiring upgrade for me explained...
slowly!
dont know about hook up never use it.
