We have just bought our 1st motorhome with a on board sat dish ( 12v ) but the tv is 240v only, I want to connect a 12v to 240v inverter to the 240v sockets, is this possible, and still be able to hook up when on a site, Thanks in advance for any comments/instructions

It is possible but would probably be better to replace the 230v TV with a 12v TV designed for mobile use imho.

However - if you must keep the 230v TV:-

1. Better to go for a 'pure sine wave' inverter, the much cheaper ones may upset other power supplies /laptops/chargers etc. (It happened to me!)

2. Fit a new 230 volt socket dedicated to the inverter output only. Definitely not good to use an inverter to power other sockets that would be live when on EHU.
That said some folks with big outfits have mains changeover switches, 2,000 watt inverters, 500AH batteries, etc. Too American for me tho' but!

3. Inverters claim to be about 90% efficient. However this is only the case if the inverter rating closely matches the load. E.g. 300 watt inverter driving a (say) 250 watt item. Efficiency can drop as low as 30% if load is a lot smaller than the inverter capacity - means you are effectively using your 12v battery to produce heat!

Reading your original post again - if you normally use mains EHU's your TV will work anyway without an inverter!
Sorry this old chap slightly confused!

For info we use an AVTEX 12v TV always connected to 12v whether on EHU or not. Works very well, low power useage and keeps life simple as we often camp 'off-grid' with a 100W solar panel keeping the essentials going.

P.s. Some good info in 'Roadpro' brochure.

your TV is not the type with the external transformer( usually a square box included as part of the tv lead) that you could cut off and fit a fused 12v cigarette lighter type plug to ..?
