Can anyone advise why the gas hob in my camper van will not stay on
After holding knob down.
Can it be repaired.
Plenty of gas.
Adjacent hob works.

Probably the thermocouple, this is the safety device that cuts off gas if burner is not lit. Google make of your hob to see if you can get a spare.

Try this, remove the knob,put a piece of paper or foil in the hole at the back and refit. Sometimes the hole in the back wears making the knob slide to far down the shaft causing it to hit the hob before turning the valve on.
