We will be leaving UK in early Jan on 7 week trip down to Italy. If anyone has information/experience of site availability in Italy at that time of year it would be appreciated. Are there any Aires as in France?
Also info/tips re crossing Swiss alps that would also help.
Thanks.
along the coast you will find some sites open, aires as many as France, I would strongly recommend you buy the CAMPERSTOP EUROPE book, english edition, from www.VicariousBooks.com, you will have the whole of Europe as a choice. January is not the best month to go over the Alps, I go down the south of France and then over to Italy, Liguria(Ligury), when I get to Rome I take the motorway all the way down to my destination, you would not want to go along the coast there and coming through Naples, I have done it once and it was enough to last me a life time, so how far down do you intend to travel? Also be aware that campsites in Italy are rather expensive even in winter. So enjoy your trip.
hi, Yes there are lots of motorhome stop overs in Italy. we travel there a lot. a nice place to visit and not far from the Brenner pass is the little town of Asolo. there is a site open all year costs 7 euros with elec a night. its a 5 min walk into the town, great pizza, little bars etc. have a look at camper on line.IT for sites, some have write ups. the german boarder atlas books and site also list sites in Italy, just use Bing to translate. a few years back we went down to Scilly in dec. found a few sites open and made a deal for the time we used. I was in tee shirt fishing in a very blue sea for most of the time. just great, we worked are way up to Pomeii in the full sun, then snow from rome back to Germany.michael
