Hi!

I have a slightly elderly Motorhome (Compass Drifter 460) with a space heater (Carver 3000S) which has seen better days. It's getting increasingly difficult to light, and having had a quick look at it I think it needs not only a new burner (the gauze is falling apart) but probably a new piezo igniter as well.

Having spoken to Gary at Arc Systems it's possible it could be repaired, but with the lack of parts it might be expensive, and that’s even if it’s possible!

So....I was thinking about replacing it. The modern equivalent is the Truma 3004 - it looks almost identical in size and internal fittings, but does anyone know if it's a relatively easy job to swap out the old and replace with the new? Can I continue to use my exiting fan & flue for instance - looking at the installation diagrams they look almost identical in position, etc.

Hope someone has some good advice!

Richard

I'm not technical enough. Someone here will help, failing that go to www.leisureshopdirect.com/ and use their service called "ask Technical Tom" (shows up at bottom RHS of the page). We have a 22+ year old MH, and we had very helpful answers about the complex process of replacing our blinds.

Richard.... I replaced mine with the Propex HS2000 which fits as well as the old one and was easy to fit. I had it fitted when I had a gas check done.

Richard... i should have said that the problem with the old ones is that the circuit board gives up the ghost and that mine was slowly getting more difficult to light over time and then gave up altogether after running around trying to get it sorted.
Get somebody qualified to fit it. For your own peace of mind.

Hi David,

Thanks for the advise - I guess the "issue" with the Propex HS2000 is that you lose the radiant heat from the fire and just have the blown air?
