Please can someone help me? I need to obtain a little paint for touch up on an Autoquest 270 (tolbot) ( G reg) but I don't know how to identify the colour code. Any ideas what I can do? Please thanks..
Yes I think I may have to. Just thought i'd try on here first. I heard that someone got a paint chart from B&Q and took closest colour match to halfords and got a touch up pen that way. Obviously a dealer wouldn't advise that so was hoping somebody on here might have a trick or two up their sleeve. Thanks for the response though.. Much appreciated..
If you go into a car accessory shop and check the paint catalogue it'll explain how to decipher the paint code, or at least it did when I had a shop. Take in all the details off the plate under the bonnet and hopefully part of it will be the paint code.
On modern Fiats there is a small metal plate under the bonnet with the colour code. E.g. colour = 249. (May also be in a foreign tongue, e.g Farbe = 179 etc.) Halfords and others also have a booklet listing colours by make, model and year of vehicle.
However If more than say 5 to 10 years old the original colour will have faded/changed quite a lot!
Guess the best way for you will be to visit your local trade car spares place - they often have a matching device and can mix paints for you. At least the main one in Barnstaple can!
