Our Fiamma rack has been in regularly in use for 3 years, this season we notice that the little rigid plastic straps that secure the bike cross bar to the arms are sticking when we depress the release clip - they won't release and you cannot push them through -anyone else had this problem ? Or any suggestions for products that might help ? Wondered about spray products with silicone or Teflon bike spray ? Any ideas welcome thanks

Hi..

Presumably they're a part that came be easily removed?...if so give them a good warm water soak/wash?..trying that and then spraying with silicon spray would be worth a go....

Failing that, just look at renewing them..?

I had this problem. The chrome plating on the metal fixing had become pitted and was separating from the underlying metal. I took the fixings off and soaked them in cheap vinegar. This served to lift off all the loose and pitted chrome exposing the underlying aluminium. They are not now of course shiny but the straps work fine and of course you can't see them on the back of the van!

We took the plastic ones off and replaced them with fabric ones from Fiamma spares.
