Similar thing happend to my mate he bought a Landrover and spent 4k on it turned out to be stolen had to pay another 4k to copart at chester (insurance company salvage) to get it back the insurance company told him to take of it what he had put on it as he had replaced the chassis so wasnt possible before they took it to chester.

Before buying a vehicle, even from a small dealer one should check with HPI. Cost about £20 for an online check. Results are guaranteed. If HPI check turns out wrong they compensate you. I still can't understand why the other poster did not get a refund when he claimed to have checked van with HPI.
