My poptop on my campervan appears to be twisted and is jutting out over the passenger side door. Finding it hard to close as the front edge over the drivers seat clips the faring above the windscreen. Any ideas how to fix this please anyone?

Hi..

Sorry, never had a poptop of any sort...so barring the obvious,

eg- Checking to I see if anything is amiss/loose/damaged/bent, with the hinges, linkages, struts, frame etc,  then I can't be of much help...

Contacting the van/roof manufacturer..or/and joining a "make specific" forum couldn't hurt...

Thanks. Checked all of those things and looks fine. I'll try my local garage who've been superb in the past unless anyone knows a pop top repairer (near Nottingham if poss)

Hi..

I suppose the problem being, it wouldn't take very much, in the way of a bend or twist, or a tired strut or maybe slightly more "drag" on one component, over another, in order to cause a misalignment...even the incorrect folding,"bunching" of fabric could cause issues?...maybe..?

If everything is straight and true, it'd be worth just spraying each and every pivot/joint/hinge with something like silicon spray...just to see what happens.

(...Is it the  pop-straight-up type? or one that's hinged from the side/front/back...?)

If pop top uses gas struts each side then probably one has had it. If camper is old then replace both.

Thanks for that - I''l try the gas struts and lubricate everywhere (again). Conversion only done a year ago so poptop not had a hammering (well not after I bought it). However the so and so I bought it off (not the converter who put the gas bottle next to the leisure battery in a cupboard) had done a few things himself like take out the wiring loom for the passenger airbag (a certain MOT failure) and tell me the central locking just needed a new fob battery when all the wiring was damaged. Stupidly I believed him and ended up paying loads to have it all put right. Love it now but afraid I'll have to fork out for poptop repairs so trying to fond a way to keep my lovely van looking good.

I used to be a tranny van but I'm camper now
