Afternoon all.   Ive been looking at a 1996 C15 romahome, and wondering what the position is regarding seatbelts. Are passengers allowed to ride in the body of the van on the side seats , without belts? Thanks for any info.

Thank you . Mmmm certainly wouldnt want that. Any idea how realistic / expensive it would be to put seatbelts in ? Are the benches wide enough for 2 seatbelts a side? Only need them for ten mins once a month to convey family from the station to home , but obviously safety is a consideration. If fitted, do you reckon the fittings would get in the way of being comfortable when the benches are used as narrow single bed

Now I think about it, side seatbelts would be lap ones, and provide no protection for a childs body and head being flipped sideways from the waist up.

lap belts aren't recommended for side facng seats as they can cause more injury than wthout.
Side facing seat aren't recognised as travel seats only forward facing seat are designated as such.

There is one model that has seat belted seats in the back, I think its the duo plus, but they are rare as hens teath. The larger R30 or Dimension has 4 belted seats but it a lot bigger than the R20.

Thanks, but it was the C15 which we were particularly looking at - just the right size , and a really reliable engine apparently . Never mind, Ill get over it or wait till we no longer need to transport kids!

The simple answer is...Conscience! Not just for children...but any traveller. The law does come into it also of course, and many people on here will say this that and the other. BUT go with you own conscience. Mine says no belts for a passenger = No passenger.
